Just a guess, but could it have had something to do with the fact that Freddie Mercury was gay?

Brian may and Roger taylor were in a band called smile. Freddie became a huge fan and begged to sing for them. finally smiles singer dropped out so they tryed freddie and found him amazing. he insisted on the name queen. he liked it because come on... obviously he felt royal and like a queen:) LOVE YOU FREDDIE:))))

The bands founder Freddie Mercury picked the name Queen because of his of his admiration for Queen Elizabeth. The other reason he picked it was because he liked how the name sounded.
