The very oldest pieces of writing talk about superstitions. It's highly likely that as long as human have been around, there've been superstitions. Homo sapiens sapiens (that's us) evolved about 400,000 years ago. The first superstitions are probably also from that period.
Answer
Not sure why this one got flagged as inflammatory or offensive (the mention of evolution maybe?) but I figured I'd throw my two cents in real quick: Superstition (religious/spiritual beliefs not recognized by the modern "big" religions as being real) is as old as mankind. As far back as we can go in the archaeological record there seems to be an unanimous use of amulets/totems/charms and as pointed out above, the earliest writings include practices that today, would be considered superstitious. It seems to just be an ingrained part of human nature.
Superstitions have been around for centuries, with origins dating back to ancient civilizations. The exact timeframe varies depending on the specific superstition, but they are believed to have developed as a way for people to explain and make sense of the world around them.
Those things which we now know and call superstitions originated first as beliefs often connected to a religion and were handed down by word of mouth and people that lived during those times honestly and truly believed in the truth of them as much as we do with our own beliefs connected to our religions today one day some of these too may become merely superstitions.
Since Man started using his noggin for something other than keeping the hair out of His eyes.
Myths are first created by people.
Superstitions have been with humankind since we first became self aware. Many of the first superstitions came from a general lack of knowledge about simple cause and effect, natural cycles, and the way nature worked. As a larger body of knowledge became available, superstitions became entrenched in the spiritual paths of humankind. Even today, superstitions tend to be relegated to the list of curiosities of another group of people. We rarely think of our own superstitions as unfounded or silly, but we do think that way of the superstitions of others.
All cultures have a history of story telling. Wives' tales are stories that are based around the belief of superstitions. People have always had wives' tales in their story telling but it is not recorded when it started.

It depends on who you are and if you believe in superstitions. I personally don't, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't. Honestly, I've always been around black cats and none of them have ever acted odd on Halloween, but again, it depends on who you are and if you believe in superstitions.
