Steak comes from different parts of a cow. I mean from the back the "skirt" of the cow. the leg the neck and the butt. steaks come in many sizes and shapes, and "cuts. so in all steak comes from cows. Your welcome. =))))))))))))))))) really happy or fat??

That depends, are you referring to filet, as in filet mignon? Or fillet, which can be any boneless cut, of any meat (or fish, actually). If you are ferring to filet mignon, it is cut from the loin, hence it also being referred to as "tenderloin". Specifically from the short loin. It is essentially the other half of a Porterhouse steak, separated from the New York strip cut only by the bone. A T-bone differs from Porterhouse only in that the tenderloin parcel is much smaller, if existing at all. That said, the cheapest way to buy tenderloin, or what you'd produce filet mignon from, is to buy a Porterhouse, freeze the strip side for another day, and throw the bone to the dog!
