One species is found in South America (Black-necked Swan), one in Australia and New Zealand (Black Swan), and four or five, depending on how they are classified) in the Northern Hemisphere. The Mute Swan is native to Europe and Asia, but has been introduced to North America (where it is considered a pest) and to Australia and New Zealand. The Whooper Swan is found in Iceland, Europe and Asia, and occasionally in North America. The Trumpeter and Tundra Swans are found in North America, and the Bewick's Swan is found in Eurasia. The Bewick's is sometimes considered a subspecies of the Tundra Swan.
