There should be a wiring harness and if it doesn't have voltage first check ALL of the fuses. Other wise take it ot a garage.
they are either below the exhaust manifold or on the cab side of the fuel injectors you pull the out and there should two prongs like a a wall plug has plug in the same way u pull off oh yeah two screws hold them in place i think they were ten milimeter

Ticking in an engine generally refers to the valves. If ticking is apparent on a 1994 Chevy Lumina tighten the valves to factory specifications.
