A 1990 Ford Ranger may not shift into gear if the clutch is out. A clutch can be purchased at any auto parts store.
Check for bad clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder.

Right at the clutch master cylinder reservoir under the hood.
check the slave cylinder,if its dry add fluid and then press the clutchin and out about 15 times
the clutch system is self adjusting no adjustment can be made . check the clutch master cylinder reservior
Remove the transmission oil pan
Check your brake fluid level in your brake master cylinder in the engine compartment and see if it is down.
There wasn't a 1990 Chrysler 300.
u have a slave cylinder bolted on the side of the transmission,check to see if it is leaking,if it is ,replace and bleed,if not leaking .check your clutch master cylinder to see if its low, if not ,then u may need anew clutch.
