There's a plug above and behind (If you're looking in from the drivers side) the CV. It's easiest to get to if you take of the airbox and use a funnel with a long hose.
Gear oil (80W90 or similar) is used in the transfer case and differentials.

It could be the reflection off of metal shavings that have worn off the gears.

I've also been trying to figure this out but all the tractor shops that i have talked to say any weight is fine and the transmission is 80w90 gear oil. The fluid level must be 3.5 inches from the top of the reservoir.
I'd stick with Amsoil gear lube for passenger cars.
Three speed automatic doesnt take gear oil. It takes dexron type 2 automatic fluid.

The Manual stated the approx fluid capacity is 1.9 liters (2 quarts). They recommended using MT oil # 12345349 or equivalent, it was suggested to me this is to be 5W motor oil, not gear oil.

On the 1.6L sohc starter is between the engine and fire wall. By the oil filter.
