There are two "ports" on two lines that lead from the compressor. They are usually pretty easy to get to. You want to fill it by adding the refrigerant to the port on the WIDE DIAMETER line. If you try to put it in smaller line, once it gets some in it it will blow up the can. You also don't want to over fill it or you can blow one of the lines...both of these scenarios are bad in several ways. You can buy a gauged can for about 30 dollars these days so I'd do that and follow its instructions
