you can't flip the rear seat up. I believe the proper procedure would be to remove or loosen the rear seat using the bolts on the rear floor pan. They might have carpet flaps covering them. The jack and tire iron in the Jeep Liberty is located under the right rear seat. There is a large knob, easily visible, when you look in that area. Turn it counterclockwise to release the jack and tire iron. On my car the knob is very hard to turn. It think this answer would apply to all Jeep Liberty's.
