In a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria :
In the Power Steering fluid reservoir ( located at the front of the engine , on the drivers side , between the engine air filter housing and the top radiator hose )
Take the vehicle for a drive so that the engine coolant temperature gauge shows it is approximately in the middle of the normal range ( C and H ) and you have made several turns
Shut the vehicle OFF and check the power steering fluid level ( it should be
between the minimum and maximum marks ( if it is don't add any fluid )

You can use the regular power steering fluid from you local auto parts, or use Dexron III transmission fluid. Either is good.
Denise, the fluid goes in the power steering pump resovior at the same place you check the level. Make sure to check the level when the fluid is hot.
