Asked in Graveyards and Cemeteries
Where do you put your cat after it has passed if you cannot afford burying it in a cemetery?
Dig a hole in your backyard and bury it in a shoebox there.
Contact your local branch of the Humane Society or the ASPCA.
I am assuming your cat was a beloved companion of yours. I'd bury the cat in the backyard and then plant a nice bush or small tree on top. I have one of my beloved deceased dogs buried in my backyard and that's what I did.
Another option is to bury it someplace outside of a city, such as the top of a mountain or somewhere in a desert. I always thought it was a nice thing to put the animal in a natural and scenic place. Just make sure you bury them good and weigh the box down, don't want things to dig it up and eat it.
Whenever one of our cats dies, we have him/her cremated, and my mom keeps the ashes in her sweater drawer.
When my cat died, we stuck it in a garbage bag and we buried it in the backyard and had a mini "funeral" for it. I bet you it's still there too because we moved. But isn't that illegal??? Just saying, we did it anyway.
