Grime originated from East London, it derives from African and carribean culture I think, and is inspired from Reggea, Drum n Bass and Jungle Music. Underground radio stations in London encouraged grime artists and helped develop the scene, around the late ninetys/ early noughties. Garage music which was fairly popular in the late 90's is sort of similar to grime, but there is a difference. So solid crew did garage, wheras Dizzee Rascal is though of as a main pioneer of grime.
