It doesn't Here's a thought: Taking your reasoning that means that people who get married on a beach don't have a valid marriage. Or someone who jumps out of a plane. Or gets married on a ski slope, in a zoo, or an orchard. So you see how silly that is? What makes the marriage valid is the marriage license. Elvis can marry you as long as you have that bit of paper.

I am assuming you are speaking of certain church's that will not marry persons unless they are members of that church.

There is nothing in The Bible that speaks to this issue, but many Church's have their own rules and regulations (which I believe is perfectly right) to help keep their church operating decently and in order and preserving their walk with God.

Generally in a Christian church members are persons who have been saved by the blood of Jesus and there is no problem in marrying those persons, whereas if one person is not a believer the Bible warns that Christians should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. A Pastor who does not heed this warning is treading on dangerous ground.

On the other hand there are churches who will marry anyone. I believe they are treading on dangerous ground.

Also some secular officers have the right by law to marry persons, such as Justices of the peace etc.

You were married by court but not by church got a divorce can you get married by Church?

.Catholic AnswerMaybe, you would have to speak to a priest and pursue an annulment (a decree of nullity). The Church would have to examine your civil marriage and find out if it was a valid marriage or not according to Church law. If it was not a valid marriage, then they will issue a decree of nullity saying that you are free to marry.

Does a married convert to the Catholic church need a marriage convalidation in the Catholic church?

Roman Catholic AnswerYes, you need to discuss this with your priest. If you marriage that you are in is valid, you should have no problems.

Why do priests tell you that your baby is a Bastard if you weren't married in a Catholic church?

While the church does not recognize a marriage of Catholics outside of the church to be a valid sacramental marriage, it does recognize civil marriages outside of the church to be valid. No priest should ever tell you that your baby is illegitimate.

Can you get married in a church without a marriage license in Utah?

No. A marriage license is required to be legally married in the state of Utah. A few churches will perform a ceremony without a license, but it does not count as a valid legal marriage.

If you get married by a deacon it is valid by the church?

Except in extreme cases, a marriage is only valid if it is done by the priest. A deacon cannot validly marry someone.

Is marriage still valid in eyes of God if a Catholic and non Catholic got married in Catholic church and now divorcing?

Yes, the marriage is still valid in the eyes of God and the church. Because of that, The Catholic party cannot remarry in the church unless it is shown invalid by annulment.

Can you marry a Catholic girl even if you have been divorced and you are not Catholic and not married in a Church?

Not 100% sure on this, but the answer is No, since the Catholic Church recognizes the non-Catholic marriage as valid. That previous marriage would have to go through an annulment process.Roman Catholic AnswerThe above answer is correct. The question is whether your first marriage is valid. If it is valid, then you may not marry again as long as your spouse is alive. An annulment is a decree that no valid marriage ever existed. If you and your spouse are both baptized, then, in all probability your first marriage would be valid, even if it wasn't in Church as a valid marriage is contracted by two Christians who are not Catholic. If one of you has been baptized, then there would probably not be a valid marriage. In any case you still need to have it examined. I believe, however, that if you have not be baptised at all, and wish to convert and be baptized, then there is the Pauline privilege which would allow you to be married in the Church.

Can you marry in a Catholic Church in Italy you are divorced but did not marry in a Catholic Church?

If you are divorced, you CANNOT marry in any Catholic church anywhere in the world. In the Catholic church's eye, you are still married once you are divorced. Therefore, you are committing adultery by remarrying. If you want to remarry, you should get an annulment. This completely erases the former marriage. If you are divorced, baptized Catholic, and were not married in a Catholic church or marriage not validated by a Catholic priest, but were married in a civil ceremony or a non Catholic Church, then you CAN be married in a Catholic Church, with proper dispensation. You shouild see a priest in this case; otherwise you need an annullment.Roman Catholic AnswerThe above answer is a little confused, if you have been married and are divorced, then you are still married in the eyes of the Church and can not get married again unless your first spouse dies. If there was some defect with the first marriage AND IT WAS NOT VALID IN THE FIRST PLACE, then you can get an annulment which is nothing more than the Church's declaration that the first attempted marriage never took place validly. The Church has no power to "completely erase" any valid marriage. If your marriage was valid, then you will be denied an annulment. In the last case mentioned above, you were a Catholic but did not marry in front of a priest, then you did not fulfuill the requirements for a valid marriage, and your attempted marriage could be annulled.

You were married twice in a Catholic church with no annulment is it a valid marriage?

If your first spouse is still living and there was no anullment, then it is very surprising that a Catholic priest agreed to officiate at your second wedding. Only an expert can say for certain, but it is unlikely that your second marriage is valid in the eyes of the Church.

Married non Muslim woman converts to Islam does she still have a valid marriage to her non Muslim husband?

Yes she does. Marriage does not depend upon your religion; marriage licenses are issued by the state, not by the church.

Can you get married in a Catholic church of you were married before?

By 'catholic chapel' you are making reference to the worldwide christian church body. In that case, the answer is YES. If you meant 'Catholic chapel', the answer is NO. You should be aware that the Catholic church does not allow re-marriage unless you go through a tribunal that has the ability to annul your previous marriage. Whether or not the former cleric is still a practicing member of the church ministry should be of no consequence. The Catholic Church would not deem a marriage as valid where it had been celebrated and administered by an excommunicated member of the clergy. Marriage is viewed as a Sacrament of the Church and no excommunicated member of the clergy can administer any Sacrament. Therefore in the eyes of the Catholic Church your previous marriage would be null and void. However, in the eyes of the State you would be lawfully married and would necessarily need to obtain a Decree Nisi Absolute, (divorce) before re-marrying. As you would not have been previously deemed as married in the eyes of the Church, it is unlikely that you would require any Special Dispensations from His Holiness, The Pope, for annulment of that union in order to re-marry. However, if the Church did deem your previous union as a valid marriage, then any subsequent marriage would not be deemed valid in the eyes of the Church without first obtaining an annulment of that marriage via a Papal Dispensation.
