The United States House of Representatives meets in the Capitol Building in Washington D.C.

There are at least 24 countries around the world with a chamber of government called "The House of Representatives."

The United States of America is only one of them.

In addition, many of the American states have their own House of Representatives as do states in many other countries.

The U.S. House of Representatives makes and passes Federal Laws. The House is one of Congress's two chambers. The other chamber is the U.S. Senate. The Senate and the House of Representatives are part of the federal government's legislative branch. Representatives are elected for two-year terms by the voters in the legislative districts in each state. Representatives serve a two-year term of office, and all 435 seats come up for election at once, in even-numbered years.
