Where is a cooling fan switch on a 2004 Chevrolet Impala Fans quit working but if you turn on the air conditioner the fans work so what else could it be?
On engine block by the oil filter. Two wires land on temperature swicth, can jump out switch to see if fan comes on. The switch has a black rubber boot protecting it. Also check cooling fan by wiring battery right to fan to see if fan works. Air in system will also cause problems with fan coming on bleed air out bleeder by top radiator hose on tp of motor.
Where does the power wire from the fan motor on a 1994 Ford Escort LX connect to the fan control switch?
There is no fan control switch, and no direct connection to any sensor or switch on that vehicle. The system works like this. The computer(PCM) decides when to turn on the fan. The PCM looks at engine temperature from the ECT sensor, and AC input from the AC control head switches. When the PCM decides that you need the cooling fan to come on, it uses the cooling fan relay, and the cooling fan high…
If the engine cooling system fan, check the fuse/relay to see if the it has blown out. If not the fuse/relay, the cooling system temperature sensor switch may have failed. For he A/C system auxiliary cooling fan, the same trouble-shooting method. If you are referring to the cabin interior circulating air fan - check the fuse and/or the switch that controls the fan speed.

I have a 86 camaro with a 2.8 L . The cooling fan relay on mine is located above the brake master cylinder and is bolted onto the firewall with two 9/32" bolts. There are two relays beside each other and the one for the cooling fan is closest to the fender. If you disconnect the harness from the relay, you can use a wire to jump across the hot terminal to the others one…
The sensor on the thermostat housing is a cooling fan switch. Cooling fan switch closes the circuit to engage the cooling fan(s) when the optimum temperature is reached. When not replaced, cooling system fans will either remain continually "on" or not function causing the engine to overheat, internal engine damage and/or temperature light illumination.
