Behind the passenger side head in the top of the bell housing.
if it doesnt have a crankshaft sensor then you have a distributer pick up. Its under your distributer cap.
If the crank sensor is not working, the engine will not run.
The Crank sensor is located on the transmission housing near the top at the back of the engine.
most crank sensors are for engine timing with the cam shaft, the distributor on at least 97' dodge and newer controls fuel timing.
A bad cam or crank sensor can cause a no start, but the engine will still crank or turn over.
12 valve engine: front above the crank pulley 24 valve engine: behind the starter.

It's on the back of the engine, right side, right where the engine and transmission bolt together.
