I had the same problem when I installed a new after market SONY CD/radio. If yours is the New Beetle check the 25 AMP fuse in the fuse box on the drivers side where the door connects to the dash. It is fuse # 42 (or the only 25Amp fuse on the 3rd row up from the bottom. You can get a pack of 5 of this fuses at the auto parts store (ex Advanced Auto) If the 25 Amp is okay, check the 10 Amp #37 on the bottom row.

If you have already checked your speaker fuses in the fuse box and still have a problem it could be the radio fuse located on the back of the radio.

There are 2 slots below the controls about this long ___. You can buy a pack of tools from wal mart that are made to fit in these slots. Once you insert them you pull the radio out.

Your 98 VW beetle has a radio preset button that won't push anymore...how can you fix it---without spending an arm and a leg?

If your 1998 VW Beetle has a radio preset button that will not push anymore, you can sometimes fix it by prying the button out of the radio with a butter knife. Then, clean behind the button and clean the button itself. Pop the button back into the radio.

What does MIN mean on a 2000 VW beetle when the CD player or radio are not functioning?

I changed my battery on my 2000 vw beetle and now the radio will only turn on or off is it ruined?

No, it's not ruined. Most newer automobiles are equipped with a security code for the audio systems in the event that someone tries to steal the radio. Unfortunately, when you replace the battery, you kill power to the radio and the security code goes into effect. No one can the use the radio if they remove it from the car without entering the code provided by the dealer/manufacturer. You should have been given a little card if you purchased it from a dealership that had a 4 to 8 digit code that you can enter on the radio. If not, call a VW dealership and see what they can do to help you track down the code for your particular radio.
