It's to the right of the distributor.
On the 4.0 L OHV engine, the oil pressure sending unit is on the driver's side of the engine, located below the power steering pump.
The oil pressure sending unit is above and behind the starter on the engine block.- TechJK --------------------------------------
On the passenger side of the engine above the oil filter
The speedometer/odometer sending unit is located on the transmission tail shaft housing, drivers side.
Top, rear drivers side of engine, below the distributor. Removing the distributor gives you room to R&R the oil pressure sending unit.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe the oil pressure sending unit on the 4.0 liter SOHC is on the front of the engine near the lower rad hose
It is right behind the oil filter.
According to my Chilton repair manual - the oil pressure sending unit is behind the right cylinder head , in the engine block
The oil sending unit on the 2.4 liter is behind the power steering on the driver side and just above the water outlet

The oil pressure sending unit is normally on top of the oil filter. However, I have a 2001 Protege also and I can't find the oil filter! Could you tell me where the oil filter is, and I'll be happy to locate the pressure sensor for you. Thanks!
I just had to change the Oil Pressure Sending Unit on my 2001 Dodge Durango (4.7L). The sending unit is located right next to your oil filter. To be more exact its in between the oil filter and the engine block and is easily viewable from looking underneath the vehicle without even jacking it up. For a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria : It weighs ( less than 2 tons )
On a 4cyl it is on the back of the block. On a 6 cyl it is near the oil filter.

possibly on the oil filter unit, look for a wire coming out plugged into it.

Directly above oil pressure sending unit. Hard to reach, motor mount obstructs access.
