I can tell you where it is on my 95 GC. I would think its in the same place on a 96... Put your Jeep up on ramps and crawl under the front. You should be able to see the O2 sensor mounted in the exhaust pipe just before where it flattens out under the Jeep. You can use a 7/8" open end wrench to loosen it. The connector end can be seen from the top if you take out the air cleaner box but its much easier to access from underneath. The connector has two clips to pry open for release. Be careful you don't break the mounting clip! YOu'll need it for the new sensor. This clip is just pushed onto a stud. You can pull it off carefully using pliers. Take the O2 sensor with you to the parts store to match up with the new one. I didn't, and I had to go back because someone stuck the wrong part in the right box!
