It is underneath the air condition hood cover left rear side of engine, under the "Battery in trunk" hood.

I have an e320 (98). To access the battery remove the rear seat cushion. If you are disconnecting the battery make sure you put a 12 volt source between the cables. If you don't your radio will be locked up and you will have to go to a dealer to get the code reset.
