There are actually several Mormon Tabernacles. Tabernacle was simply a name for a large worship space or meeting house for the Mormon Pioneers. The Tabernacles still standing are generally reserved as historic sites and are used for occassional community events, not weekly worship services.

The most famous tabernacle is located on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, adjacent to the Salt Lake Temple. As all addresses in Salt Lake City branch out from this block, it doesn't really have an address... Temple Square is surrounded by North Temple, South Temple, West Temple, and Main Street. It is the home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Other tabernacles in the surrounding area include Provo, Ogden, Brigham City, Logan, St. George, and Paris (Idaho).

Most of these Tabernacles are open for public tours during business hours. You can see photos and information about each tabernacle at the Related Links below.

As of May 2011, there are 134 Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) around the world, with 26 more under construction. You can find a list of these (click on the one you are interested for more info and the exact address) at the "Related Links" below.

Please note that a Temple is different than a Meetinghouse, where regular Sunday worship services are held. You can locate a Mormon Meetinghouse at another of the "Related Links" below.

The Salt Lake Tabernacle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) was built between 1864 and 1867. (There are other Mormon Tabernacles, but this is by far the most famous)

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir was an enlargement and improvement from a previous smaller choir which was established in Salt Lake City in 1847. They became a 300 member choir in 1869 and performed their first concert in the Tabernacle in 1873.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) has several tabernacles. The most well known is located on Temple Square in Salt Lake City and is home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The tabernacle is used for the Choir's performances and practices, as well as other musical events and performances. Community events and special sermons are held in the tabernacle, it is also used for local Church conferences or as an overflow building for the semi-annual General Conference of the Church. When not being used for these events, public tours are given of the building beginning every couple of minutes.

Other tabernacles have essentially the same format as the tabernacle in Salt Lake City, being a large seating hall to be used for meetings. They are used for local religious meetings and community events as well, and most offer tours during limited hours. Tabernacles are no longer built by the Church, regular church meetinghouses are used for events where there is not a tabernacle available.

Please note that a Mormon Tabernacle is not the same as a Mormon Temple.
