Altenator is located on the back bottom side if the engine below the Power Steering pump. To remove it you will need to take of the front passenger wheel and remove the splash shields. Two bolts hold it on. It will take some twisting, bi=ut that is the way the factory manual tells you to take it out.
The starter on a 2000 Saturn SL is located on the bottom, left side of the engine. It is powered directly by the vehicle's battery.

The fuel filter in a 1999 Saturn SL is located inside the frame rail on the driver's side on the left. It is found near the fuel tank, under the master cylinder.
