Where is the best place to fit rear speakers on a 306 estate?
I also have a 306 estate and had a similar problem. The rear speakers are mounted in the tail gate and ate 7x5, an awkward size for performance speakers. This leaves you with a few options. 1. Replace the speakers in the tailgate with better ones. 2. Build a box to mount somewhere within the car and mount 6x9s in here. However, I've just done this and decided it takes too much space out the car (whats the point in an estate if you cant use it, gotta get my surfboards in) Besides, youll still need to do the below steps to snip the wires out anyway. 3. Remove the storage at the rear of the boot. Remove the opening flap and take out the inner plastic lining. By taking out the right screws it leaves you with a metal opening. This can easily be sealed by a sheet of 6mm MDF cut to size. You can then mount your speakers in here. You'll need to remove the screws around the facia surrounding the rear windows first, to get to the wires. Wires to cut n shut should be 845 yellow and 846 white passenger side, and 847 white and 848 yellow drivers side. You might want to play arund with connections, I soldered mine in a way that it would be easy to remove/replace speakers. All you gotta do then is wire it up and screw your wooden plates on, hey presto. If anyone wants help or photos, email email@example.com
How do you remove the factory speakers from your 92 grand am se they are the premium speakers if that matters?
Remove the dash pad, then remove the speakers from the dash frame. For the rear speakers, open the trunk and remove the brackets, that hold the speakers in place. not for the back speakers ..you have to remove the lower rear seat then remove the seat belts then the rear seat back then remove the header panels in the back seat then remove the deck cover ..the rear speakers are bolted in from the top down under the rear deck cover....and the front speakers i believe are mounted in the door panels in the front doors ..you have to remove the door panels to remove them .some do have them in the dash also if they are there u do as the person stated before me.
In the Astra 1600 estate model the audio system has four channels Left Front Right Front Left Rear and Right Rear. Speakers must have an Impedance of 8 ohms. Buy speakers with an Rms wattage of 25 Watts.Rms stands for Root Mean Square Buy full range speakers, the sound quality becomes better. Do not be misled by PMPO ratings.
First remove the cover for rear deck third brake light. Then lift the front of the rear deck tray above the the top of the rear seat to gain access to the speakers which are held in place with two ten mm bolts each. The speaker leads are soldered to the speakers so you will have to cut them close to the terminals to remove them. Be careful with the rear deck package tray as it is somewhat fragile.
