NEXT TO THE BLOWER MOTOR

Start above the passenger's feet - There is a black plastic cover on the bottom of the dash (to cover the blower and resistor) held in place by two plastic push pins. Just pull straight down, the pins will give, and are reusable.

Open the glove box, remove everything, then bend in the tab on each side of the glove box sidewalls, top rear corner - there is a STOP on each that prevents the glove box from flopping down. Flop it down. If you didn't empty it, it will be empty now.

The resistor and blower motor are now in view. Press the catch on the wiring plug on the resistor and remove the plug. There are two 5/16" hex screws holding it in. A nut driver from the bottom works well. When replacing, there are two pins to prevent you from installing it backwards.

The thermal fuse is usually the problem. Symptoms are the fuse box fuses are good, blower only runs on HIGH. Replace the entire unit. Twenty minute job.

Heater fan switch works only on the highest setting?

The blower motor speed resistor is burned out. You can replace only the resistor but the resistor probably burned out because the blower motor is going bad. If you want to fix it for good, replace both the blower motor and blower motor speed resistor.
