Henry Jones presented the Book of Kells to Trinity College in Dublin in 1661 for safekeeping during the Cromwellian wars. It is kept in the Library when not on loan to other institutions. The Book has received additions over the years and has been rebound to correct damage and wear, although this did cause damage to the book itself. Different volumes may be on display in different locations at any given time.
