If your horse has the saddle on and you go to your horses left look at the saddle. if u go from the seat and towards the back where the tail is (the right) the part closes to the tail. (Go on Google.com and type in saddle diagrams and youll find what your looking for.)

∙ 12y agoThe cantle on a western saddle is high and designed to keep you in it and support you. It is also partly a feature, just to give it a bit of shape! On the English saddle, the cantle is purely a feature and is lower than on a western saddle, for ease of dismounting. hope this helps!

When you remove your horse saddle first you have to do what?
Dismount, if you haven't already. With an English saddle, slide the stirrup irons up the stirrup leathers and tuck them so they won't come loose. With a western style saddle, you may wish to hook the off stirrup over the horn, but this isn't 100% necessary. Then undo the girth from the near side. If you are being slow and neat, walk around to the off side and put the girth over the saddle. Otherwise, just grab the pommel and the cantel and lift/pull the saddle off gently. If you didn't put the girth over the saddle yet, grab it as it comes over the horse's back and sling it over the saddle. Make sure all the cinches are undone and any other tack and that the horse is either tyed or hobbled.

The same as any other horse. You should make sure that it does not force pressure anywhere on the horse. When a person is sat on the horse make sure it is not pushing on the withers. You should also be able to see all the way through from below the pommel to below the cantel!
