The coolant sensor is also the temperature sensor, it can be found on the head under the distributor for 1.5 liter Civic motors prior to 1992.
On my '91 it's below the thermostat.
Below the distributor on the head nearer the firewall than the radiator.

If your standing in front of the car looking at the bumper the coolant temperature sensor will be on the driver side of the intake under the throttle body tube, it should have a black and yellow wire running to it, and under the sensor will be a pipe connector fitting, that pipe will run down toward the back of the engine.

I'm not a mechanic / technician but one sensor would be for the engine coolant temperature gauge in your dash and the other sensor is for the OBD I / EEC IV emission control system
