No the CTS runs the fans. They never go bad. On that vehicle watch the guage, if the radiator seems to overheat before the guage says it should be doing so ya got a cracked head as long as ya haven't been putting WATER in the radiator. it has to have antifreeze to keep the boiling point up. They also have fan motor problems
They don't have one. The CTS is located on the thermostate housing.They don't go bad.
The 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix cooling fan sensor is located on the front of the engine. The fan sensor can be found just above the thermostat.

The coolant fan sensor is the same as the sensor that shows the coolant temperature on the dash gauge. It is located on the intake manifold.
Check the fan relay for the 1996 Cavalier. Also, check the coolant sensor, one of these is most likely bad.
Cooling fan should come on when coolant temperature exceeds 235 degrees Fahrenheit or A/C or defroster are turned on

The 2000 Chevy Cavalier cooling fan shroud is held in place with 10 retaining bolts. Remove the retaining bolts and the cooling fan shroud will come off.
The engine cooling fan is not suppose to stay on. The temperature sensor on the motor tells the fan to kick on if the motor ever gets too hot, usually comes on at 210-215 if I remember right.
The fan relay on a 1996 Cavalier should be in the relay box. It is mounted on the drivers side, near the headlight.
The 1996 Mercury cooling fan relay switch is on the back of the cooling fan motor. The relay switch should be labeled as such.
