It is not difficult to replace at all on either models.
The Crank Angle Sensor on a Mazda Miata differs for the varying years:
On 99-05 Miatas, it is located to the right of the Crank Pulley at the bottom of the engine. It can be reached by removing the splash pan under the car.
On 90-97 models, it is on the back of the valve cover on the driver's side (assuming Left-hand drive models). When replacing it, you must also purchase a new Crank Angle Seal (just a round rubber grommet).
You adjust the timing by moving the crank angle sensor. The crank angle sensor is driven by the camshaft closest to the intake manifold (passenger side of the engine) and is located behind the cylinder head and valve cover. Losen the bolt that secures the crank angle sensor, in order to move the crank angle sensor.
Usually pretty common to have the replace the crank sensor or crank angle sensor. Before you do replace the camshaft sensor check that your timing is right on because this is the issue with about 75% of vehicles.
You need to remove the serpentine belt and alternator in order to get the crank sensor; one 10mm bolt holds it. It is easy to replace.
the cam angle sensor is the crank angle sensor it preforms both jobs
check crank angle sensor
The crank angle sensor is located in the distributor.only in the 94 and 95 Honda accord.
The B2600i does not use a crank angle sensor, it uses a hall effect sensor located inside the distributor to time the engine based off of the camshaft. See the attached link for additional information. K6 Mazdatruckin.com
Generally when the crank sensor goes out the engine will not start. The sensor on almost all vehicles is located in the front on the engine near the belts. In most cases it is held in place by a bolt.Usually they can be hard to get to.
its under crank shaft hub. hope its helps.
if you have a code w/ cam to crank reference then yes. if only a crank sensor issue the no
Frequently this is caused by a faulty crank angle sensor. As the engine heats up the sensor goes open circuit and there is no pulse to trigger the spark or the injectors. When it cools enough the circuit reforms and the engine will run for a while. Replace the crank angle sensor and the problem should go away.
