Where is the crank shaft position sensor in a 1999 Chevy Suburban?
It is on the left side of the timing cover behind the harmonic balancer, when you slide up under the front of the truck.
The crank position sensor (for the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban/GMC Yukon/Full size trucks) is located near the back of the engine block, on the passenger side. Near the starter. Note - the crank sensor (as well as the cam sensor) can occasionally leak oil and drip down, making it appear to be a rear main seal leak. If you have a leak at the bell housing, don't automatically assume a rear main leak.
