Go to www.autorepair.about.com and search on "crank sensor aurora 3.5 2001". One of the hits will be a diagram showing the sensor above the starter. There is also a link to the replacement procedure and tells how to do a "relearn" after replacing the sensor. r
The crank sensor on a 2001 Malibu is located on the bottom of the engine near the crank shaft. It monitors the rotation and speed of the crank shaft.

where is located the crankshaft sensor in a Santa Fe 2001 2.7
The crank shaft position sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer/crank shaft pully on the front of the engine. You can see the wires for the sensor run behinf the pully into a plastic housing.
If your 3.5 engine is the same as that in a 2001 Olds Aurora, go to www.autorepair.about.com and search on "2001 aurora 3.5 crank sensor". One of the hits will be a diagram of where the crank sensor is located (above the starter motor). Note that for this engine, a "relearn" mjust be done after replacing the sensor. There is a link to the procedure for removing/installing the sensor and for doing the "relearn". Hope this helps
it should be on the right side right neer the belt
its on the front of the motor by the crank shaft pulley or it could be on the back in the same spot
I need to locate the IAT sensor on my 2001 Aurora
Check the 2001 Grand Ams crank shaft position sensor first. If the sensor is bad then the engine will not get fire or start.
It is behind the starter on the driver side of the engine.
That sensor is located on the cylinder head, right next to where the ignition coils are bolted to the engine.
Had this issue with mine. It was the Crank Shaft Position sensor. The sensor is a dual sensor, so it will work until both parts fail, but it's dangerous, since this failure can really mess up the engine.
