The DME relay is located under the bonnet in a fuse box below the windscreen.

1985 was a changeover year for the 944. Early cars (sometimes refered to as 1985.1, with three separate round guage pods in the dash) have the DME relay located on the relay board in the driver's footwell, under the dashboard. The DME relay is in position 2 of the relay board, second one from the left. Later series cars (1985.5) have the fuse and relay board under the hood, on the left hand side, just in front of the windshield. Open the box up and there should be a diagram on the inside of the lid.
check your DME relay and your crank and speed sensors on the back side of the bellhousing. look up Clarks Garage on google for how to bypass and test the DME and how to test your sensors.
Which temperature switch, there are 2. One is the DME temp switch and that one is close to the water inlet at the top of the motor and usually has a blue connector. The dash sensor is located in the middle of the block under the intake manifold and is a single wire sensor.
Only the 944S's used an actual ignition control module, and it was located on the fender under the coolant expansion tank. The other 944's and 924S's used the signals from the referance sensors to the DME and the DME controlled everything. The DME's are located: 82-85 - under the steering wheel. 85.5-91 under passengers kickpanel, pull back carpet (it's velcro'd in under the dash at the / ) remove 4 screws to remove the wood panel, remove 4 plastic screws to remove the metal piece that holds the DME in.
dme motronics unit , do you think you got into some water , under dash above knees ignition coil same side as battery 1984 944 all the way to the front (plastic black cap covers water can still get trapped and if theres no cover --- better get it dry check timing belt, i had problem with my timing belt that had a bad spot and after stopping engine it would not start
It is under the passenger side floor board. To get to it, remove the floor mat. The carpet is attached to the floorboard by velcro at the top. Pull the carpeting down, and the plywood floorboard is visible. There are 2 Philips head screws, and two large flathead plastic screws. Remove them, and pull on the plywood. You will find the DME (fuel injection) and KLR (ignition) control units attached to a metal frame below.
