Look in the trunk area on the passenger side. It has a little panel to allow access to the fuel cutoff.

If you are talking about a fuel pump inertia switch, Chevrolet doesn't use those. That's a Ford thing.

There won't be a relay for the ignition. You may have a "blown" fuse.

If you're talking about the fuel cutoff switch which disables the fuel pump in the event of a crash, and the Escort is the same as an 80s Mustang, then it's on the left side of the cargo area. There will be a little plastic box with a button on it. Push the button to reactivate the fuel pump.

To do that would compromise your safety, and of anyone else in the area, if you have a wreck. The purpose is to cutoff the fuel pump if you have a wreck, so fuel is not spewing out all over the pavement. On an Escort, it also locks the automatic seat belts down, if you have them, so you stay in the seat if the door flies open during a wreck.

No it does not. Only ford used a Inertia switch / cut off switch.

the switch is located in or on the transmission case

Usually on fords they are in either the drivers or passenger kick panel. there should be a hole or little panel to remove to access. Kick panels are next to your ankle when driving.
