the emegerancy fuel pump cutoff switch would be in the trunk on the left side behind the carpet
typically the 1992 Mercury Sable can hold up to 16 gallons
GM vehicles are not equipped with such a switch.

I think it would be the same as a 1993, in which case it is located on the left hand side of the trunk, by the hinge.
The car was hit in the rear and now it won't start. I was thinking that it has a fuel cutoff switch but I do not have the owners manual.
No, a Generation 2 (1992-1995) Taurus/Sable Windshield will NOT fit a Generation 3 (1996-1999) Ford Taurus/Sable.
I have a 93 and my switch is behind the passenger side kick panel.
There is one under neath the hood towards the back on the driver's side and there is one under the dimmer switch on the driver's side inside the car
Look in the trunk area on the passenger side. It has a little panel to allow access to the fuel cutoff.
Chrysler products do not use inertia/reset switches.
This is same procedure as detailed in the "Related Question" below.
