The Ryman Auditorium, which served as the Opry from 1928 - 1974, is located in downtown Nashville. After the Opry moved to its current location, the Ryman remained vacant until the early 1990s, when Emmylou Harris staged a series of concerts there for her live album AT THE RYMAN. After the Emmylou Harris concerts, the Ryman was restored and has reopened as an intimate concert venue.
The current Opry opened in 1974, and it is located in suburban Nashville, at 2804 Opryland Drive.
