The horn for the 1997 Ford Escort Lx is located underneath the front end of the car. You'll have to crawl under the car face up or if you can lift the car up to see the horn. (It looks kind of like a snail shell or that kind of basic shape.)

See if you are getting power to the horn itself-they have a tendency to fail If not it could be relay or switch at steering wheel

The Ford Escort 1.6 liter horn fuse will be in the second column of fuses, fourth from the bottom. The fuse box can be found in the engine compartment.

Make sure it is grounded to the body. Check the fuse and horn relay.

Under the dash in the center.

the horn i believe is located under the the left side of the front bumper

User Avatar

check your fuse. i had the same problem. that might be it. I doubt a fuse, the clicking is probably the horn relay that you hear. Fair chance the horn or connection at the horn is the problem. The clicking noise is the relay, and since it is clicking I doubt that your switch is bad, so check the fuse and also check the horn (hook it to the battery).

Horn relay is located under the dash on a white plastic block. Did you get yours fixed?

No, the 94 escort is a 2nd generation and the 97 is a third generation. 1991-1996 is 2nd generation and 1997-2002 is a third generation.
