Drivers side fender well under the hood right behind the washer fluid reservoir. May be under a square metal shield... better yet here:
it's the second pic.. the lil gray square box with the wires. I just took mine out today and it was under a shield as I stated first, this pic is from an f250 but you'll be in the ball park.
Have a blast... Oh btw autozone says they are 34.95 and the usually stock them.
on the side of the distributor is is rectangle
i thinks you can find it in the electronic ignition module
The engine computer, ignition module, is behind the battery in the left front fender.
Look on the side of your distributor. It takes a special wrench to remove it if it is there.
THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE can be at two locations one is mounted right near the distrubutor the other location is on the drivers side fender behind the battery.........corey
At the base of the distributor, gray or black chip like device
are the wires good? Plugs?
The ignition module for this vehicle is mounted on the driver side fender well just below the hood hinge and behind a round vacuum diaphram. It is rectangle in shape and has a connector plug at one end(facing towards the front of the vehicle)and is mounted on a aluminum base with cooling fins(much like a small lawn mower engine)
I believe they sit on top of each spark plug.
www.motorcraft.com shows the ignition timing setting , for a 1988 F-150 4.9 L ( 300 cubic inch ) straight 6 cylinder engine as 10 degrees BTDC
My guess would be yes. You won't know for sure until you remove them both. If they wiring is the same, then it will work.
On the driver side fender well or sometimes on top of the dist. cap like on my 77 Chevy
Replace the distributor mod, this fixed my 91 Dodge yesterday/
Module is mounted on the left side of the firewall, near the top. It should be a little flat (TFI) gray module mounted in a finned heat sink. Ford moved them off the distributor to reduce heat damage.
