The engine computer (behind the battery) is the ignition module.
am told my ignition module on my SL 500 is faulty where can i replace this and what exactly does it do?

The ignition module uses the crank sensor to decide when to spark.
The ignition module and coil are contained inside the distributor and are not serviced as separate parts.
1994 was the last year the Ranger used an ignition control module on the 2.3 and 2.5. The ignition control module was attached to the lower intake manifold.
Most likely it is the Ignition Control Module.
The only way I can explain it is to follow the wiring from your coil pack (where the spark plugs are) and the wires plug into the ignition module. Also go go www.wrenchead.ca and it has a manual that explains all. if you don't know the answer to a question please keep your moth shut ,please don't waste my time
Have you checked for fuel and spark? Fuel pumps ad burnt ignition rotors are very commen on these vehicles
The new ignition module may have failed. If it is a used module its probably happened. If its a new module it still sounds like failure.
