In a '96 with the 3.8L, the cam position sensor is in the timing chain cover, near the very top. It's just below the rear bolt on the thermostat housing. If you're going to replace it, make sure that the new one comes with the paper spacer on the end. It's a little dot of thick paper (about 1 milime…ter thick) that is provided to set the gap between the end of the sensor and a special disc on the end of the cam. ( Full Answer )

Have a look at www.carbasics.co.uk . Answer . I just changed the plugs in a 2000 T & C this weekend. It took a long time. I was able to get to some of the rear plugs from under the van. I also tried to remove the air intake on top of the motor and reach around to the back. The intake never cam…e out but I was able to move it around. I also used swivels to get in there. When taking out or putting the plugs in, it's all done by feel, you can not see what your doing. That is part of why it takes so long. I also broke two spark plug wire. The metal clip that snaps on to the spark plug came off the wire. I would be ready to change the wires at the same time, just in case.. It was an all day job. (7 hours). Answer . Sounds like that is worse than changing plugs on a 1993 Ford Thunderbird super coupe. I have a 2001 T&C and have not changed the plugs yet. Now this sounds like a really chore to do. I took me three days to change the plugs on my T-bird. I also had to replace the wire as they broke at the plug cap.. Leo. Answer . Actually, believe it or not, you'll save yourself oodles of time if you remove the wiper arms and wiper arm tray/drain assembly. This will give you the room you need to get to the rear plugs from above. This is actually how the dealer does it. If you look the wiper arm tray/drain assembly is fastened with quick release butterfly nuts. As I recall you need to disconnect to water drain hoses as well. It was a lot easier than you might think. While you have the tray out use this as an opportunity to retorque your rocker arm covers as well.. Hope this helps. Answer YOU CAN GET TO THE BACK SPARK PLUGS BY JACKING YOUR VAN UP ABOUT 1 FOOT (REMEMBER ---USE SUPPORTS UNDER VEHICLE). CRAW UNDER UNTIL YOU SEE YOUR CATAYLACT CONVERTER. SIMPLY STICK YOUR ARM UP THAT DIRECTION AND YOU'LL FEEL AND EVEN SEE YOUR BACK PLUGS. ( Full Answer )
