Between the rear of the engine and the firewall you will see it screwed into the exhaust manifold as viewed from the top. Soak it good with penetrating oil overnight and then start the engine in the morning and run it for about 5 minutes as you don't want it too hot to work on but hot enough to expand the manifold threads. use a special 02 socket wrench to remove the old one and install the new one. I just did mine and the sensor cost $22.50

This fuse is the ASD relay power to the PCM and also power to the fuel injectors - splits right at the fuse in the fuse box. I installed fuses in the 2 lines and the PCM side continued to blow not the fuel injection side. (This is a reasonable way to determine which side is causing problems when power side splits.) Found a problem in the alternator/voltage regulator - which is controlled by the PCM. Replaced alternator and problem solved

map sensors on every vehicle stand for Manifold Absolute Pressure. meaning the further your foot is on the accelerator the less vacuum the engine has so the sensor senses this and adjusts fuel quantity accordingly. Usually, when the map sensor goes out black smoke is present at the tailpipe because the diaphragm of the sensor has failed causing no difference between idle and wide-open throttle. The sensor sees no vacuum and thinks you are accelerating when in actuality you are idling. master technician 26 years
