Mine is just to the left of the distributor (as you sit in the vehicle) but is hard to see it with the cruise control in the way.
I know on a1987 Suburban the oil pressure switch is located just above the oil filter. Check there. it might there on the '88 also.

i believe it's on the rear of the block, to the right of the dist. behind the back edge of the intake manifold. it's almost against the firewall.

It might fit, but it won't be compatible. The 99 Suburban had an electronically controlled 4L60E, whereas the 1982 350 engine is mechanical, and does not have the ECM necessary to operate that 4L60E transmission.
