How do you fix a 1993 Jeep Wrangler Sport temperature gauge that shows overheating when engine isn't overheated even after the oil sensor sending unit has been replaced?

Its not the oil sensor sending unit. More than likely its a bad connection at the temperature sending unit. I have a 95 wrangler that was reading 260 degrees. I had a couple bare wires touching at the temp sending unit. Fixed the wires and all better now. Otherwise its probably the gauge itself.
