on a 4.7l the sender is right above the oil filter and on the 4.0l its on the right side by the oil filter. answer: Terrys answer is correct. A further explanation would be that on every engine that I've ever seen the oil pressure sending unit is a small device that screws into the block, usually closely related in position to the oil filter. Because it's electrical in nature it will be connected with a two conductor wire that leads up to, usually the dash, and connects to the oil pressure guage or idiot light. Remember that this device does not indicate in any way whether your oil level is low but rather how much pressure exists in your system due to the oil pump. Removal of the oil pressure sending unit is accomplished by unscrewing it from the block when the engine is cold and screwing in a new one. Be careful with the new one as it has plastic components and can be damaged which, when the engine is running, will spray hot oil out all over the place. The cost of replacement is very cheap relative to possibly replacing a rear main seal on the engine. The amount of oil that a cracked sending unit can send all over the underside of your engine will make you think you have a huge issue and I have heard of unscrupulous repair places replacing the rear main (and the sending unit) to correct a 15 dollar problem.
That is an oil level sensor.
The oil pressure sensor is screwed into the rear of the oil cooler, under the intake manifold.
The oil pressure sensor is mounted on the rear of the oil cooler under the intake manifold.
Screwed into the engine block very near the oil filter.
The oil sensor is located above the oil filter next to the distributor.
On the back of the engine, next to the distributor.
It is just above the oil filter on the front of the engine.
Right side of the oil pan.
It is located on the back of the block, just to the passenger side of the distributor.
The camshaft position sensor is located just above the oil filter on the right side (sitting in the vehicle) of the engine.
Remove oil pressure sensor and install a manual gauge
its on the oil pan drivers side
