I removed the Relay.......Cut wire From Trans Connector/Heat shrink......
Ran wire to connect shifter wire (one side)...Replaced switch with off/on switch/led ....Super glued on shifter...4th Gear switch (forward position)...3rd Gear back position...Other side of wire
connected to accessory power.... Problem solved...Switch $ 8.00 at Radio Shack... Dedicated
Shifter...No Relay....

what years is it? My 83 244gl automatic switch went bad on the shifter and was stuck with overdrive off. I pulled the switch out and unplugged it. Then I connected tapped the wires together with screwdrivers and turned the overdrive on that way. Now i just drive with it on.

On my 88 240 the wiper relay is located to the left of the clutch pedal, behind the insulation and a small metal plate - just pull the wires out from the top, and you should find the relay.
