Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1961. Other than living briefly (four years) in Indonesia with his mom and step-dad, he mainly lived in Hawaii until college. He attended college in Los Angeles and New York, graduating in 1983. He found work in Chicago, Illinois, and that is where he made his home, eventually got married, and he and Michelle began raising their two daughters. He spent two years attending Harvard Law School in Cambridge MA (1989-1991), but for the most part, his home was in Chicago from the mid 1980s until he was elected president; to this day, he continues to own a house in Chicago, and thinks of himself as being from both Hawaii and Illinois.
