∙ 2008-04-08 19:51:42Most vehicles have the instrument panel light brightness level and the interior courtesy lights [on or off] controlled by the same switch, which usually is a "rotary" type. The on/off function of the instrument panel lights is usually "tied" in with the parking and headlight off/on push-pull switch. The reason for having this additional, manual method of control for the interior courtesy lights is to allow use of the courtesy lights WITHOUT having to open one of the doors. When the parking or headlights are on, clockwise rotation of the headlight switch knob, increases the brightness of the instrument panel lights. Just before full clockwise rotation of the knob, there is a "detent," which if passed, turns on the interior courtesy lights. Full COUNTERclockwise rotation of the knob dims the instrument panel lights to the point of extinguishment, but to my knowledge, full counterclockwise rotation DOES NOT turn on the interior courtesy lights. j3h.
On a 2001 Ford Ranger : Rotate your gauge panel dimmer control all the way UP ( that turns on the interior courtesy lights and the cargo lights ) * located in your dash next to the headlight switch
i usually use a sawsawll. or a table saw.
You need to remove the Rh lower insulator panel, this is the panel with the courtesy lamp. remove the push pin retainers to the panel, then un clip the courtesy lamp from the panel, then remove panel. Remove blower motor connector, remove 3- 5.5mm screws, then lower and remove the blower motor..
On a 1998 Ford Ranger : Try rotating the gauge panel dimmer switch all the way up , I BELIEVE that turns on the interior courtesy lights and the cargo light * in your dash , just to the right of the headlight switch *
Hi, The courtesy lights are really controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM), but there is a main fuse that supplies power for the courtesy light function. I believe it is fuse # 35 in the fuse panel that is located in the passenger side dash panel. I have included a link that has a picture and drawing of that fuse panel (see below). Good Luck, Greg
Look in the fuse panel for a fuse which may be marked as "courtesy" or "courtesy lights". If you're unable to find it under that name, consult your owner's manual or a dealership for info on this. You can pull that fuse, and it'll keep the interior lights from coming on when the doors are opened.

You need a flat-head screwdriver and a TORX bit to remove the door panel on a 2000 Corvette. Use the screwdriver to remove the rectangular panel behind the interior door pull. Next, remove the two TORX screws. Pull the interior door handle open and use the small slots to pry off the panel. Lastly, use the screwdriver to disengage the bottom clip and pull the door panel off.
