Your 89 SHO has the same cable operated clutch as my 90 SHO. With a cable, there is no fluid and no master/slave cylinders for the clutch.
should be on drivers side of the firewall
How do you replace the clutch slave cylinder on a 1989 jeep wrangler
The Clutch slave cylinder is located on the passenger side of the bellhousing.I recommend to replace the Clutch Master cylinder also;if either one is replaced , the other will fail in no time.
Remove the transmission to excess the inturnal slave cylinder
it is located just below the passenger side front motor mount, when looking down at the motor.
if slave cylander is bad, it must be replaced to fix it
Located inside the alternator
You Must remove the trans to access the slave... on the 5 speed for sure.
In the front of the transmisson, right by the radiator. Its about 6-7 inches long and its bolted into the bell housing and connected to the clutch fork
Inside the bell housing, is part of the throw out bearing.
It is important to bleed a clutch master and slave cylinder to make sure all of the air is out of the lines. For a 1989 Chevy you would need to know model you had, and then find the repair manual for that specific vehicle.
The clutch has two main parts; the master clutch cylinder and the slave cylinder. Follow the line down from the master cylinder to find the slave. Most of the time the slave needs to be rekitted or replaced and then bled. That should fix it.
