The speedo unscrews at the driver side axle, passes through the fire wall and is held to the dash by a rubber grommet. 5 screws takes out the insrument cluster bezel, then disconnect the wires on each side be4fore separating . Then 4 screws takes out the instrument cluster and there is the speedo. It simply lays inti the cluster when reinstalled, no clamps. Very simple. Installation is the reverse.
The speedometer is cable driven.

Yes, the cable goes from the transmission to the back wall into the dashboard
buy a new one and wire it up with a soldering iron
Most of the time, the speedometer cable breaks, and you replace it. The best way to find out, is to unscrew it from the transmission, and see if you can pull the cable out from the casing. If it checks out to be good, then it will be the drive gear inside the transmission, or the speedometer itself.
