Where is the speedometer sensor on a 1996 Nissan Sentra?
On the 1993 Sentra the speedometer sensor is located on the top of the transmission on the drivers side near the firewall. I have the same problem and would like to replace the sensor but cannot seem to get it out. Do you know how to remove? firstname.lastname@example.org Art Plymouth, MA
My son's '97 Nissan Sentra did not have a cable but a VSS(vehicle speed sensor). His odometer and spedometer did not work at all. We replaced the VSS and it now works. We bought the VSS for about $20 from car-stuff.com and my son and his friend put it in in about a 1/2 hour once they figured out where it was located. You will have to get under the car to do that.
1996 and newer have an electronic speedometer and a vehicle speed sensor that operates your electronic speedometer and also sends a signal to the powertrain control module (PCM) The PCM uses this signal to control several different functions of the engine and transmission.. Your 1996 doesn't have a conventional speedometer cable.
1996 ford ranger Odometer and Trip gauge don't work but Speedometer works. How can I fix this Thanks?
Speedometer is ran by electronic sensor on rear end. Odometer is ran from speedometer. If both don't work problem is sensor. If speedometer works sensor is okay. If speedometer works and odometer does not problem is in mechanical parts (gears) of of odometer and has to be replaced. Can get used from eBay (search for speedometer or odometer, is one unit) or take to dealer.
