Where is the starter found on a 1993 Geo Storm and how do you get it out?
The starter is on the passenger side rear of the motor. You'll have to jack the car up to get to it, and I think its held in by 2 bolts and a few connectors.
All GEO Storm starters are interchangeable. It does not matter the year, engine or transmission. You can also get them from any Isuzu Impulse, Stylus, and 89 I-Mark RS. Some of the starters look different, or have different shapes. But all bolt up the same and will work. I have found a few have a different connector for the solinoid. This is delt with by splicing the wire with the correct type of connector from…
If the starter is causing a 1993 Geo Metro to only stat when it is push started in second gear where is the starter located and how do you repair it?
The starter on a 93 Geo Metro is located on the back side or firewall side of the engine. The battery will need to be disconnected and the cables removed from the solenoid and then the two bolts holding the starter to the engine can be removed. When installing the starter make the battery connection the last thing you do.
Geo Storm was manufactured from 1990-1993. Two engines were available the 1600cc SOHC and the 1600cc DOHC while it is possible to switch between one style engine for the other it is rather involved. Other sources for these engines are the Isuzu Stylus for the SOHC or the DOHC or the Isuzu Impulse XS for the DOHC. The Isuzu Impulse RS was a DOHC Turbo which requires considerable modification to install.
Yes any Storm motor will fit in any storm, however you will also need the wiring harness from the new engine if it is not the IDENTICAL motor. You will also then need the ECM. Storm Motors Include 1.6 SOHC 12v (90-93 Base Model) 1.6 DOHC 16v (90-91 GSi) 1.8 DOHC 16v (92-93 GSi) Sources... www.isuzone.org www.stormowners.com
